Fran Wood and her husband, Jim, live in
Ellenton, Florida along with their
beloved dog, Bandit—the subject of this
book. Fran and Jim have three grown
sons. The eldest, Carl Harbuck, is a
world-record-holding blimp pilot. Alan
Harbuck, in the middle, is a yacht trader
and writer. Jeff Wood, the youngest, is a
lawyer and an officer in the National
Guard, currently serving in Iraq.
Fran’s life was forever shaped by her birth
to Christian parents who taught her
about the Gospel and by her childhood
in Fitzgerald, Georgia, a unique town settled in unity by Northern
and Southern soldiers shortly after the Civil War. She also
attributes part of her life perspective to her Native American
heritage — her great-great grandmother was a Cherokee.
What My Dog Taught Me About God is Fran’s debut book.
Her next two books are already in the works. One is a Southern
foods cookbook tentatively titled My Mama’s Recipes and the
other is an autobiographical novel tentatively titled, Growing Up
Poor In the Deep South.
